Even with so little grass as cover these deer remain the masters of disguise. There are about 70+ Sika deer on Lundy; even with most of the Rhododendrums now gone, the deer remain difficult to spot. Many trippers never see them, and a number of stayers often only get a glimpse of one or two. They remain a real treat to see while on Lundy. Earlier this year, I was with friends in the Maarisco enjoying an evening beer, when we were lucky enough to watch x3 Sika deer browsing and walking in a relaxed manner across the old tennis court just out side of the pub, visible for about 10 minutes. A real ale treat.
