Early March 2026 on the rock, in what has become a traditional trip to welcome the first puffins to the island and to celebrate birthdays. This year tinged with mixed emotions with the recent passing of Mum still raw. However what better place to breathe, reflect and to reset than amongst the granite of the windswept island of Lundy, my sanctuary of choice for the past 15 years.

Above. Winter light on the western cliffs.
Below. First time staying in the Old School, or Blue Bung (alow) as it is affectionately known. The Old School is old school, being one of the last properties on the island to be refurbished and is next in line for a ‘zhuzh’ up. Superficially, it could do with a lick of paint but the strong winds while we were in residence highlighted the fact that it desperately needs new windows. Talking to Rob about it and apparently these are being made in true Landmark style by a bespoke artisan glazier on the mainland as we publish.

Four nights, two storms, constant wind, occasional hail but one day of wall to wall sunshine to dry out the socks. Below. East Coast vista from the old donkey path, (raven acrobatics conveniently balancing out the composition).

My Tribute to Martin Parr. Below. Derek Greens’ Pier.

Let there be light..

Winter skies.

Sheep on the doorstep.

My favourite photo taken on the trip, love the humour and RGB. Below. Sheep line. (I’ve been searching out Martin Parr’s catalogue lately and loving his bold and vibrant (Fuji) Superior colours, similar to my pro days with Velvia). His compositions are also an inspiration and a heavy influence currently on my landscape ideas. Let me know if you like it or not. Are you just going to the costa shop to drink mediocre indifference?

Finally. Below. Sigma 10 – 18mm f2.8 for APS-C. Magical lens IMO.
