Racked up my 21st stay at Tibbetts in June 2024, and if you think of each stay as a year in the life of your Tibbetts experience; this year, the wild teen years have given way to a more mature approach with melancholic moods. There is a hint of nostalgia for the old ways, however the upgrades to the shower, the water pump, the boiler and wenlock have made the old admiralty building a bit softer and easier to live in. There is still the marvelously subdued gas lighting, the crap fridge, tight kitchen, quirky loo, rattling windows, boiler pilot light problems when the wind gets over 5mph and lack of phone signal but if you want to be on your phone all day – don’t come to Lundy (just saying… haha).
