Biggest day of the year so far

As the summer flat spell has kicked in very early this year, and several important surf contests have been postponed til the autumn, I am posting these snapshots of the biggest day of the year so far here in North Devon. Least we forget that this winter has pumped; from Xmas day til that high moved in during April. That was the time to be a surfer.

Here’s some photos of the biggest day of winter at the river mouth, to be honest it was a bit too big to be perfect, with wide sneaker sets and ‘crumbly’ winds. As you can see from the pix, it was not a ‘pretty’ day and provided a mid-winter challenge for local and travelling watermen alike.

Classic view from the layby:

A medium set rollin through just after low tide.

One of the wild wide ones.

Plenty of swell rolling up the channel.

Long rides on offer

Rhenish rights

Couple of nice ones

And a rainbow over Porlock

Thank you
