Not as up and down as the salt path which goes past my front door but that’s not a bad thing…
The 100 mile route links the Forth and Tay estuaries and wanders along miles of golden beaches, attractive woods and nature reserves, but the route also threads its way through industrial towns and and some of Scotland’s most picturesque former fishing villages. History is everywhere in these landscapes and so is an impressive variety of wildlife and birds.
We only had a handful of days as a rest stop on the way to the 2025 Scottish Championships in Caithness, and our base was an old converted sail loft in the celebrated East Neuk fishing village of St Monans. This easy going section of the path is serviced by a reliable, regular and cheap bus service. Which means that if you, like us get caught out in the weather, or even if you want a fish supper from the amazingly popular ‘chippy’ at Anstruther, you are only a cheap bus ride away from your starting point.
