That was the winter that was

A busy bank holiday weekend coming up and starting to get amped for the  Saltrock Open, stop No 2 of 9 on the 2011 UK Pro Surf Tour, at Croyde Beach, here in North Devon. It’s a bit of a bus mans holiday for me as I get to watch all of the action from the comfort (or not) of the judging cabin. Plus being a ‘home’ event I also get to sleep in my own comfy bed rather than some cheap and cheerful B&B, (which is usually ok but just not the same). However I do miss out on the the luxury of someone else cooking me a ‘full english’ breakfast to set me up for the day, (isn’t it strange how they seem to taste better when when someone large, homely with a smile and a floral dress cooks them – without evoking too many stereotypes….. [Ed:  too late you already did].  [note to self *must get in some black pudding for the weekend*…] [ *and a new large floral dress.*]

Anyway to celebrate possibly the most important surf comp of the year in North Devon (definitely the most difficult to win) here’s a selection of previously unpublished pix  from last winter (10/11) and here’s hoping we get some swell of the same calibre that lit up the epic 2005 event.

As always if you click on the picture it will magically become bigger, see you down there.
