Another year another dollar.
I’ve been involved in the British Universities Surf Championships since the the early eighties, first as a judge and as event photographer, then as head judge and now as Contest Director. It’s a bloody nightmare of a comp to organise, squeezing over 350 university surfers into a contest with a small three day window of competition with the backdrop of the inevitable, (and wonderful) social events that occur. Throw in the unpredictable autumn weather – or storm Callum as he was named by someone who doesn’t understamd storm names…….. and you get the picture.
Three massive days filled angst, elation and tired emotion. Great team work from all involved to get a result in what was a challenging weekend for everyone on or off the field.
