One of the best walks around Woolacombe at the moment is; up the donkey path to Twitchen wood and back down by the stream. Short, sweet and full of colour. The bluebells are the divas of the show but there are strong supporting roles, not least the heady smells and bright white flowers of the wild garlic. The Beech and Sycamore are presenting their newest, almost irredessant leaves contrasting against the velvet green moss and there was a surprise guest appearance of this lovely early purple orchid. If you look carefully there are signs of deer (probably Roe) and badger everywhere, plus speckled wood and peacock butterflies plus a host of returning migrant birds including everyones favourite spitfire bird, the ebullient swallow.

Enjoy the weekend
