Blue Lundy

With umpteen visits and ‘stays’ on Lundy over the last (hhummty) years, it seems that I have never had a May stopover, which seems logical as it’s a very busy time for the last of the serious surf contests and, preparation for the start of the holiday season in North Devon. Both have ran me ragged in previous years but in these subterranean times (Happy birthday Bob), things are different and a speculative booking made with cancellation vouchers made for a much needed return to Lundy, just after the pub restrictions were due to be lifted….

The circumstances and regulations have changed but Lundy remains the same although familiar faces amongst the staff have dwindled, there is still a warm, friendly and down to earth welcome. One thing I didn’t expect or had even had thunked about was the surprising amount of bluebells on the island, they were everywhere and an absolute joy, making Lundy blue. However, May was not yet out and before anyone cast a clout (coat) you might need it for a Lundy special; an unseasonable Lundy blue hurricane, served up with gas boiler malfunctions and all the usual stuff you expect in March. Perfect.

Tibbetts with bluebells on the doorstep.

Eastside

Do you wonder sometimes about sound and vision?

“Blue, blue, electric blue – thats the colour of my room.”

Where I will live

When you get the wedding group perfectly spaced and then some drunk uncle bombs the picture..

Itch

Cute or wot, Lundy pasties

Life imitating art, Tibbetts sunset.

The day after

Wild horses

Couldn’t drag me away

It’s a bit windy in the gulley for these nesting guillemots and razorbills

Also for these desperate Tibbettians on their journey through windy corner …..

Thanks for all the likes, just worked it out.
