Photographer of the year competition is due to close on 31st January 2023 at midnight. (Personally, I think that it should be called the SWCP Photograph of the year as they are not looking for a portfolio of images, just that one banging shot but hay ho). There is also a prize for the Young photographer of the year for entrants under 18 years old.
Anyway, there’s a decent prize, so get your images in and support the South West Coast Path, it brings mental heath benefits and environmental awareness to all users. As well as local benefits to walkers, dog walkers, wanderers, roamers, joggers, lovers, bench warmers, birders, seal watchers, picnickers and photographers amongst many others.
This is my image that was shortlisted last year and used to promote the competition in the new edition of Devon Life magazine (Jan 2023). Reproduced on a double page spread the good old Fuji file still shows excellent colour reproduction and sharpness, you can even see Tibbetts!

The photo was taken back in March 2020 and featured in the Beautiful North Devon Calendar 2021. The lines are in fact not an allusion ((Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ah, illusion)) but open-ocean, pumping four to six foot swell hitting Woolacombe beach. The sunset was defused by a hazy gap in the sou-westerly fronts and a relatively ‘calm between the storm’ peaceful moment. Lucky to have experienced it.
