Every now and then you need to get away. Sometimes you didn’t even know that you needed to get away until you actually do it. Away from traffic, work, politics, shopping and the fraught treadmill of daily life.

Back to basics and immersed in the natural world, escaping modern life and hiding in an obscure crevice on secret Exmoor, just for a few days, to regenerate and recover perspective.

Calm and peaceful

Appendix:

Westermill checklist –

  1. Wood saw, there’s a big pile of branches/ firewood for use in the fire pits but you need something to cut them up. Any saw fine, silky saw best.
  2. Charcoal if your gonna cook in the fire pit.
  3. You’ll need a griddle to cook on, or very large pan. (Fire pit is 460mm square or 18″ x 18″ in old money).
  4. Kindling or axe to make.
  5. Matches, lighter, firestarter.
  6. Helicopter spotters guide.
  7. Torch and awareness of the geographical position the stream.
  8. First aid kit.
  9. & finally remember you are high up on the moor and it gets cold at night regardless of the time of year.
  10. Have fun and relax.
  11. Spare socks.
  12. Oven glove.
