Remember in January, when Cotty was riding giants and McNamara was on the front page of the national media, at a 55, 65, 85* foot beach break, ffs, (*small, medium or large – you choose…).
The same swell crept into all the little nooks and crannies of the north Devon coast and for three days it was an explorers paradise, however the tides were shit (neap) and against us but hey ho. No new discoveries for me but I’ve heard tales of new waves being ridden south of the rivers.
This spot worked for about an hour around low tide but it never really got low enough to be ‘classic’, intrepid winter hunters Ste Corcoran and Charley Charlesworth sampled a few clean ones in the lea of the storm under leaden and damp, skies. It’ll probably be the only time this spot will work this winter.
